Bio

Ann Marie (b. 1964) is a painter living along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in northern Colorado. She holds a science degree from Texas A&M University and a BFA from the Academy of Art, San Francisco. Her career history is vast in variety, but art making has been a thread woven throughout her life. Ann’s art is rooted in color exploration, and although always abstract in form, she often turns to nature and its many forms for themes. Her collections include pure abstractions, landscapes, florals, still-life and mixed-media embroidery artworks.

Artist Statement

Creating art is my soul energy, my peace and calm. With my paintings, I share the beauty and wonderment of color, form and reflections of the natural world.

Nature is my church, my therapy.

Mountains are my soul’s comfort, my place of healing. Large and steadfast, mountains represent for me a part of Earth that is strong and beautiful and lasting. They give me hope in a world that seems fleeting.

Mother Nature in all her glory has always offered me solace, wonder, curiosity and inspiration. I believe nature holds the answers to our most important life questions.

I begin each work of art from a place of color first, with line and shape coming next, then back to color to finish. My brush strokes are a dance between my hand and my soul.

I create art because I simply must do so, to stay sane and to know happiness.
